No More Body Scanners

No More Body Scanners was developed in response to what we believe is a grossly disproportionate approach to so-called airport security. When we heard news of the UK government's response to the media dubbed underwear bomber we couldn't believe that members of the general public would readily consent to such intrusive 'security'.

Upon realising that political, corporate and media representatives weren't disclosing the privacy, security and health risks of full body scanners we decided to develop an online resource to share these with others.

The process from initial design concepts through to live site took approximately 2 weeks incorporating technologies such as jQuery DOM scripting, Ajax, HTML5 and PHP/MySQL. Built on the premise that the general public needed information that wasn't forthcoming from the mainstream media we developed the following modules:

  • Articles disclosing the privacy, health & security risks of full body scanning devices
  • Map listing airports with body scanner technology installed/used
  • Downloadable templates such as letters to political representatives
  • Bespoke search facility

Other website features include:

  • Interactive comments facility for each article
  • Social bookmarking
  • Content sharing

To ensure that new developments reported in the mainstream and alternative media were able to be reflected as required in the website we also developed a fully customised CMS. This allowed us to add new articles and content as required, export site data and back-up files and view site usage statistics via google analytics API integration.

Now we're looking forward to promoting the site, concentrating on SEO and link building techniques to bring the content to a wider audience. Stay tuned for further developments!
